MEET

Courtney Huffman LDH, COM®, QOM, IFC, CSSC

Hello! My name is Courtney, and I was born and raised in Illinois but have called Indiana home for over 15 years. Life here is full with my husband, our three kids, a dog who thinks she’s one of the children, and a cat who keeps us all in line. When we’re not working or in school, you’ll usually find us outside exploring, laughing, and creating little adventures together.

In 2016, after 13 years as a clinical dental hygienist, I felt called to expand my career. That’s when I discovered Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy and its profound impact on total health and well-being. I pursued training with the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM), became the Tri-State’s first Certified Orofacial Myologist, and founded Functional Face™ in 2018.

Because orofacial myology is so closely tied to breathing and sleep, I went on to complete advanced training in Buteyko Breathing and became a Certified Sleep Science Coach. Along the way, I developed a strong passion for helping people with sleep-disordered breathing and TMJ dysfunction.

In 2025, I expanded my scope by becoming a Certified Infant Feeding Counselor. This step allows me to bring my work full circle: many of the oral dysfunctions I treat in adults—such as airway problems, poor sleep, and TMJ issues—often begin with missed dysfunction in infancy. By helping babies and parents early on through feeding support, airway screening, and anticipatory guidance, we have the opportunity to intervene sooner and prevent long-term struggles.

Today, my passion spans the entire lifespan: from guiding parents of newborns through feeding challenges, to supporting healthy growth and airway development in children, to helping adults with sleep and TMJ issues. My mission is to provide care that not only addresses current concerns but also lays the foundation for a healthier future and quality of life.

Barbara Hester RDH, Specializing in Orofacial Myology

Barbara has called Evansville home her whole life and graduated from the University of Southern Indiana majoring in Dental Hygiene in 2007. For 16 years, Barbara has shined as an excellent clinical dental hygienist, but her curiosity and compassion led her to explore myofunctional therapy after witnessing firsthand how tongue ties and oral dysfunction were affecting her dental patients.

Driven by a desire to better serve her community, Barbara completed the MyoMentor Program in 2020 and continued expanding her clinical skills with an internship under Courtney at Functional Face™ in 2021. Courtney quickly recognized her talent and dedication — and invited her to officially join the Functional Face™ team in 2022.

Barbara has since worked tirelessly to pursue the highest level of excellence in her field. She completed extensive advanced education through the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM) and comprehensive coursework in the assessment and remediation of tethered oral tissues through TOTs® Training. In 2025, she earned the prestigious COM® designation, becoming a Board-Certified Orofacial Myologist™ — a credential that represents rigorous clinical standards and specialized expertise.

Barbara loves building strong relationships with clients and is passionate about the life-changing impact that improved oral function has on breathing, sleep, posture, and overall well-being. Having personally experienced the benefits of myofunctional therapy and a tongue-tie release, she brings both empathy and clinical excellence to every case.

Barbara resides in Evansville with her husband Ben and their 2 daughters. Kennedy and Vivian and enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, hiking, attending church, coffee and all things fall.
