MEET

Courtney Huffman LDH, COM®, QOM, CSSC

Hello! My name is Courtney and I was born and raised in Illinois but have called Indiana home for the last 10 years. I live in Evansville with my husband and 3 children. We love spending time outdoors and having adventures whenever we can.

In 2016, after enjoying 13 years of practicing clinical dental hygiene, I was ready to change things up with my dental career. I found just what I was looking for with Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy. Upon learning the positive impact it can have on a person’s total health and well-being, I was moved to take steps to become a provider.

As the tri-states first and only Certified Orofacial Myologist, I can now meet the need for these services in the community. In February 2018, my training to become an Orofacial Myologist was completed with the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM) and Functional Face was created. Orofacial myology is heavily intertwined with sleep and breathing, and so over the last few years, to better serve my clients I have also completed training in Buteyko Breathing and have become a Certified Sleep Science Coach.

Barbara Hester RDH, Specializing in Orofacial Myology

Barbara has called Evansville home her whole life and graduated from the University of Southern Indiana majoring in Dental Hygiene in 2007. For 16 years, Barbara has shined as an excellent clinical dental hygienist, but became interested in myofunctional therapy several years ago when she started learning about tongue ties and seeing their negative impacts on her dental patients.

Wanting to better serve her patients, Barbara began her myofunctional therapy training and graduated from the MyoMentor Program in 2020. In 2021, Barbara continued to expand her knowledge base and learn more clinical applications with an internship with Courtney at Functional Face. Courtney liked her so much and wanted to keep her around, so she invited her to join Functional Face in 2022. With a desire to be the best myofunctional therapist she can be, Barbara continues to make learning and continuing education a priority. She has begun the extensive credentialing process to become a Certified Orofacial Myologist with further training through the IAOM and additional coursework in the assessment and remediation of oral restrictions through TOTs® Training.

Barbara enjoys the client connection and seeing how achieving functional oral health carries over to a person's total health and well-being. Barbara has experienced her own benefits from going through myofunctional therapy and a tongue tie release and enjoys helping individuals across the lifespan with this and other myofunctional issues.

Barbara resides in Evansville with her husband Ben and their 2 daughters. Kennedy and Vivian and enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, hiking, attending church, coffee and all things fall.

Areas of Special Interest:
